The Stranger (draft)

What’s the price of a vice, really
The stranger asks as he approaches
And you can’t help wonder where this is going
Or how long the road is

But his eyes whisper a promise
One new but so familiar
And you know that you know better
But by hello you’d already gone too far

Dare you dance, with bright eyes sparkling
As he offers you his hand
And you feel your reason start to slip
Barely managing the fall, much less to stand

Let the games begin
Is the look in his eye
Can stripes be changed
Do you dare to try

And you know when dawn breaks
You’ll be left wondering
Is a night to remember
Worth the sting it brings

What angle’d you miss
Could it be you didn’t look
Betrayed by your foolish heart
Sunk by the hook

What choice did you have
Is what you’ll say to make it right
With a silver tongued stranger
A warm touch on a cold night

Let the games begin
Is the look in his eye
Can stripes be changed
Do you dare to try

And you know when dawn breaks
You’ll be left wondering
Is a night to remember
Worth the sting it brings

But you can’t quit now
The chase is just getting good
And you’re not sure how
Because there’s no way that you would
Right now….

Let the games begin
Is the look in his eye
Can stripes be changed
Do you dare to try

And you know when dawn breaks
You’ll be left wondering
Is a night to remember
Worth the sting it brings
