One Night To Remember

Then in the last days
Gold was found, as if by chance
He held back a smile

Her hand was better
That much no one could deny
But he knew his well

A sweet sound was heard
Foreign, but so familiar
so, she had his ear

Old friend’s voice, new tone
A softness finally bloomed
Timing plus patience

Remembering words
“Friends can do so many things”
Night with no regrets

But how could one know
Where the lines of transference
Began and ended?

Just for a moment
She made him forget the pain
Then the ache returned

The ache of the lost
Of paired love, lost time, joined souls
A deafening roar
